I often tell my kids, "words hurt" when they report a sibling's hurtful comments or news of a playground misunderstanding. Worth noting, however, is how uplifting words can be when used in positive, affirming ways. I was the fortunate recipient of this kind of gift the other night after a women's Bible Study at my church. The environment of a Study can be a bit awkward in that you're invited to share your thoughts with people you don't know all that well. And I wonder sometimes if these ladies are thinking, "this Marianne is kind of different She asks odd questions." Or whatever. Last Wednesday, however, Ruth came up to me after the Study and said, "I just want to tell you how much I enjoy having you in this group. I have really enjoyed getting to know you." I hugged her and told her that her words made my day and week. And she helped boost my self confidence for sure! Who do you appreciate and why? Have you told him or her lately? E-mail or call him or her right now!
